An access log is a text file containing an extensive list of all the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files that were requested in one way or another will be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a visitor opens just the home page, for example, you might find many files in the log. The reason is that there are elements on the home page that are embedded - parts of other Internet pages, pictures, and so forth. These files shall be listed inside the access log, so you can get a full picture of the way your Internet site performs. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are often termed "raw data" as well. An access log contains the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, web browser and Operating System. More info, such as the referrer Internet site, is typically supplied as well. A log file could be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics generated by your web server.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your website hosting account and navigate to this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your PC and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with only a click from the same section of the CP. You will still have the ability to access the already created content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it won't take more than a few clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be enabled through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this can be done independently for every single domain or subdomain which you have in your account. Whenever you log in and look at the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click will activate the log generation and a second one will disable it, so you can control this function with great efficiency. A Download link in the same section will permit you to save the compiled content as a text file, that you could then use on your computer. Even when the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
